[After obtaining orichalcum from the mine on the field trip, Toki made a visit to The Anvil of Hadur. He did no work himself, of course, and instead paid one of the Soleil employees extra to make him a bracelet out of it. It's fairly heavy, but he figures the more orichalcum he uses, the better it will work. However, it's also far too shiny for him to wear without distraction, so he's brought it to the alchemy lab for a less lustrous coating as suggested. If Jail's not around, he'll just leave it on her desk with a note.]

[True to her word, Jail has a batch of orichalcum-treating solution ready for it, and by the next morning the bracelet will be returned to Toki via a package left just inside his door.]

[The metal has been carefully treated so that the shine has been taken off, with the end result looking more like polished bronze than the unmistakable gleaming of orichalcum. Still pretty enough, but substantially less difficult to look away from.]

[The note with it reads:]

If shit gets weirder than usual, call me and the nurse.
(Not in that order.)

[Which isn't bad advice, assuming he can actually read her handwriting.]

[Jail's reply comes just a few minutes later, in the form of a text. She figures it's probably for the best if she gives Toki something easy to take a quick glance at in case he needs to refresh his memory instead of making him have to listen through a voicemail again if he forgets.]

if you die between now and then i'm still making your ghost come to the tutoring session.

[This is her way of saying she's worried about you, Toki. ...And also that she actually might do that. It's unclear.]

[There's also a photo of the Daybreak official campus map with her office marked on it in green pen, just to make sure he doesn't have an excuse to accidentally get "lost" and miss meeting her.]

my advice:
1. maybe ask ekkehardt or one of the other med guys for a basic checkup, just to be on the safe side.
2. drop by my office sometime when you got a moment, i'll take a look and see if you're cursed or anything.
3. if you start feeling weird or notice something fucky going on, call one of the teachers pronto.

-ave an idea and I need you to tell me it's a good one~! So! I'm thinking that the problems with my previous use of orichalcum was because I never took it off! Not that I knew it was going to be a problem, but it was, so what I want to try is like just using it for like a day and then having any visions that I was supposed to at like one time before I go to bed or something, and then they won't get in the way of like everything all the time! Does that sound good?

Yeah, okay, hi. So, I'm gonna need more details on this idea of yours. See, normally I'd say it'd be fine, but normally I'd say that orichalcum shouldn't cause that kinda effect at all, and that clearly went places neither of us saw coming last time. [To put it mildly.] Seems like you had a really unique reaction to it, and honestly we're still not sure why the fuck it happened, so I'd wanna play it safe and run some tests first before you get anywhere near that shit again.

[The day after the mess with the pool, a series of text messages comes to Jail's phone from an unidentified number. Tracing it will reveal it to be a prepaid cell phone that was only registered in the past few hours, an obvious burner phone.]

Tokidoki Rikugou's latest stunt has gotten him the wrong sort of attention.
There's a powerful mage who wants to make absolutely sure he doesn't make any headway in exposing the supernatural.
There has already been one attempt at keeping him from communicating with the outside world.
If something isn't done soon to make sure he can't continue those efforts, the next attempt may cost him his life.
Be very careful with this information.
If the people in charge find out that there's a leak, they'll have no problem figuring out who I am.
Don't make me regret taking this chance.

Since the world didn't end, I think you should know that there's a saboteur here.
They're using magic to try to undermine Daybreak's reputation, on the order of a powerful third party.
It don't think it should come as a surprise that it's the same person who wants Rikugou dead.
This mage is well connected, any abrupt stop in the incidents would catch their attention.
If you want to put an end to this, you'd better prepare yourselves for retaliation.

[It's also warded heavily, almost as much as the actual Alchemy and Artifice classroom itself, ostensibly in case one of those personal projects goes a bit wrong and she needs to contain a curse or impending elemental rampage. But it does make it a pretty safe place to talk about something private.]

[As is his custom, Toki makes a decision at a random time and goes right for it. So, at 10:39 on Thursday morning, he and his guard are outside Jail's office door, having not contacted her first to make sure she'd be there. There's a quiet knock, a practice he has finally mastered.]

[Luckily, her lack of consistent office hours has worked out in their favor this time, and she's actually in there. Specifically, she's lying on her back on top of her desk, idly tossing a foam stress ball shaped like a tomato from hand to hand and staring at the ceiling.]
